Lucebert’s warrior

The Olla Art collection was recently enriched with a beautiful ink drawing by Lucebert from 1962, entitled ‘Warrior’.

…and tomorrow the whole world
The drawing has been used as the cover illustration for the book ‘Lucebert …en morgen de hele wereld’, which was compiled on the basis of the exhibition ‘Geldzucht, vraatzucht, geilheid in woord en beeld’, with texts and drawings by Lucebert. The exhibition was held from 5 May to 3 June 1972 at Galerie de Tor in Amsterdam.
The book was originally published by the Amsterdam publisher Van Gennep in 1972. In 1984 a second printing was provided by publisher De Bezige Bij. The drawing, along with many others, can not only be found on the cover, but is also depicted in the book.

Top piece
Warrior is a top piece from the years known as Lucebert’s best period (1960-1962). Characteristic for this period are the fairytale-like figures that populate his drawings and paintings.

Information
The condition of the work is good, although some irregular yellowing can be detected. The work will be delivered including the book from 1972.
