The exhibition Relationships & Contrasts – the collection of Hans and Cora de Vries was planned from March 7 to June 14, 2020 in Museum Belvédère in Heerenveen (Netherlands).
Due to the corona crisis, this exhibition was canceled. Now, three years later, this exhibition can still be visited. It is important to do this quickly, as the exhibition can only be seen until February 11, 2024.
Collection d’art
From 1969 to 2004, Cora de Vries (1944-2010) headed the famous Collection d’art gallery in Amsterdam, where many leading artists from home and abroad exhibited. Parallel to the gallery policy, she built up an impressive private collection together with her husband Hans de Vries. The couple explicitly looked for works of art that strengthen each other in relationships and contrasts. From this collection, Museum Belvédère shows work by, among others, Karel Appel, Armando, Eugène Brands, Constant, Jean Dubuffet, Willem de Kooning, Jan Schoonhoven and Bram van Velde.
