Carborundum print by Armando

New to the Olla Art collection is a carborundum print by Armando, entitled ‘Die Hand’. The work is pencil-signed, numbered and dated, and measures approx. 43 x 43 cm. The work is printed in a limited edition of 10 copies and perfectly framed in a whitewashed wooden frame.

Carborundum
Carborundum printing is a type of embossing which makes use of carborundum, a rock hard material used in graphic workshops to roughen lithographic stones. In this case, the material is glued onto plexiglas, and the resulting plate is provided with lithographic ink and pressed on heavy, handmade paper.
Precisely because Armando uses a lot of structure and relief on his canvases, this technique fits in well with his paintings.
